It had been one year since the apocalypse had ended…
Dean flopped a good spoonful off mashed potatoes onto his plate before Cas had interrupted them, asking if they could say grace just this once. They had all agreed, and even let the angel lead the prayer of thanks. Dean didn’t waste any time filling his plate after Cas had finished though, piling turkey and stuffing and vegetables into a heap before passing them on.
One year since Lucifer and Michael had been locked down in the pit…
“Yeah, you should have seen the look on his face, bloody priceless.” Crowley chuckled and poured a good helping of gravy over his meal. “You know, it’s very rare to get a nice gay man to make a deal, because they already basically have everything they want and they are not afraid to take it for themselves. But straight men, that’s just priceless, they get this funny looks on their faces.”
Once year since Dean, Cas, Sam, Gabriel, Bobby and Crowley had all realised their true feelings and gotten off their high horses and accepted them…
“Yeah idjit, you’re not supposed to talk about past relationships in front of you’re significant other over thanksgiving dinner.” Bobby scolded the demon as he rolled his eyes. “Besides, no demon talk at the table, it’s not nice.” He smiled at the look Crowley gave him before adding his own gravy to his dish, though not as heavily as his lover.
One year since Dean and Sam had reconciled their relationship...
Gabriel snorted. “Oh, if you’re going to brag Crowley, then let me tell you about some of my great tricks.” Gabriel shoved a spoonful of cranberries in his mouth and swallowed before speaking again. “There was this collage dick who liked to sleep around, right. So I faked an alien abduction, let my wonderful cousins anally probe him over and over and over and over and once more; then they made him slow dance.”
Once year since Castiel and Gabriel had started to become brotherly towards each other...
“That’s nothing to be proud of Gabriel.” Castiel scolded and, with persuasion from Dean, stuck a forkful of turkey and gravy in his mouth, surprised by the pleasant taste. “Messing with the humans is never a funny thing Gabriel, you know that. Look at where it landed you?” Cas ignored Gabriel’s eye rolling and turned to Dean who nodded.
One year since Crowley had become an honoured Winchester...
“Come on Cas, you do have to admit that one was funny.” Sam grinned and added some pepper to his own food before taking a sip of beer. “Though I do agree that sometimes he went too far, but at least he didn’t kill anyone that time.” Sam amended at the look on Deans face before they all burst into laughter; genuine full belly laughter.
One year, and now they were celebrating their first thanksgiving as a family, complete, content and happy for the first time in ages...
“Pass the veggies.” Gabriel smiled and Dean raised an eyebrow but obliged.
“Vegetables, my brothers being a bad influence on you.”
Sammy rolled his eyes. “I think it’s big of him, not eating all that candy.”
“I’m surprised he isn’t fat.” Crowley added, taking a bite of stuffing.
“Angels do not get fat Crowley.” Cas countered.
“No but humans do and he is in a vessel.” Bobby muttered.
“Oh would you all shut up already.” Gabriel scowled, but only half heartedly.
And like all good things, the year must come to an end because a new year was about to start and the adventures awaiting them were timeless.

on 2010-06-29 07:03 pm (UTC)If I were them after surviving the Apocalypse I would be saying more than Grace once a year!
Looking forward to the future I hope it is a good one for them all. I have come to look at them as my family since I play in their sandbox so much.
