"So different, so different than you. So different than you are. I know it's sad but true. So different, I'm no different than you."

Pop, tap, pop, tap...
Sam sighed deeply and ignored them, concentrating on his laptop, trying to drown out the two children and their silly games with the click, click, clicking of his keyboard. It had been two days since Gabriel had joined Team Free Will. He had dubbed Gabriel The Runaway, and that made them: The Ex Blood Junkie, Mr. Comatose, The High School Drop Out and The Runaway. Gabriel had laughed and accepted the title.
Sam was pretty sure the only reason he had done so was because of it being given by himself, and not Dean or Cas.
But now…
Pop, tap, pop, tap, tap, pop…
Sam gritted his teeth and turned to Cas, who looked as annoyed as he did. They both shared a knowing look, before turning back to their work. If it wasn’t for the fact Sam was so engrossed in this new idea Gabe had given him, he’d be bitch-facing his lover and his brother; both of them.
Ever since Dean had found out about his and Gabriel’s relationship he’d not only teased Sam non stop, but the bickering between them had gone from annoying to unbearable. Cas was getting just as annoyed, and he was pretty sure Cas was close to smiting his brother, as much as Sam was close to shoot Dean with rock salt. They were going to have to do something about this childishness. He just didn’t know how.
He heard the flutter of feathers and looked up, expecting to see Gabriel, but instead Cas was looking over his shoulder.
“I think we need to talk.” Cas looked over at Dean and Gabriel.
Gabriel was sprawled out on a couch, sucker in his mouth, which he kept pulling out with a pop. He was doing this repeatedly, while staring intently at Dean, who was sitting on a chair by the table, book in his left hand; ignoring him. He hand was on the table, and he was thrumming his fingers in a taptaptaptaptap fashion. He was staring intently back at Gabriel. They were trying to out-annoy each other.
It was ridiculous.
“Yeah, we do.” Sam nodded and stood up.
Gabriel went to stand up as well, but Sam held up a hand, closing his laptop and grabbing his jacket.
“Cas and I are going to grab some things. Please try not to kill each other.”
Gabriel looked like he was about to argue, but a look from Cas seemed to settle him back onto the couch with wary eyes. Sam shrugged into his jacket and followed Cas out the door. Dean was eyeing them both, but he ignored him too. Sam knew curiosity was running through both of their heads, but he really didn’t care. If he stayed in there one more minuet he’d shoot someone, possibly his brother, most likely Gabriel. He knew Cas was at the same point, and getting out seemed the best idea.
The fresh air lapped at Sam’s face and he felt instantly relaxed. He didn’t really intend on going anywhere, just being free of the room had been stuck in. Cas walked beside him. They both kept silent, just enjoying the cool breeze that worked nicely in the heat.
They were still in
Sam enjoyed the games they’d play, which would end up with snuggling, or sex. Sometimes they’d kiss and Sam would fall asleep; those were his favourites. Then he was curled into Gabe, head on his chest and relaxing in the archangels hold, listening to one of his many stories. Sam would listen to Gabriel until he fell asleep, and when he woke up, Gabriel’s grinning face was always there to greet him. It was enjoyable, and gave him the feeling of something solid, something whole.
Something Sam had been craving since Jess.
“They don’t seem, inclined to…Stop,” Cas muttered, breaking the silence and yanking Sam from his thoughts.
“Yeah,” Sam agreed. “They’re concentrating more on their bickering then on research.”
“What should we do?”
“I dunno, talking to them is out of the question.”
They stopped at the end of the block and Sam leaned against a fence, shielding his eyes from the unyielding sun.
“I do believe they need to be taught a lesson.” Cas tilted his head.
“You’ve been spending too much time around Dean and Gabe, really Cas,” Sam chuckled and shook his head. “What do you have in mind?”
“Something that will force them to have to work together.”
Sam furrowed his brows, and then got an evil, dastardly idea. He grinned and looked at Cas.
“I got a better idea.”
“What’s that?” Cas blinked, curious.
“Let’s beat them at their own game.”
Cas blinked again, and then nodded, catching on.
“Oh, they are so in for it.” Sam beamed.
Cas had to agree.
